When you have been using a tool or application for over a decade, it's a big step to change to a new service. I have been looking for a new social media scheduling platform for some time and came across Publer. This Publer review will give you an introduction to this relative newcomer to the scheduling market.

I compared Publer with market leaders: Hootsuite, Buffer, SocialBee and newcomer, Loomly. Publer came out on top for usability and price. You can post to LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter and one unique feature, which I think is a game-changer, is the ability to link to your Google My Business account which is so important for local businesses.

In terms of pricing there's a free option for up to 5 accounts, which is very generous as Hootsuite is limiting free accounts to just two. There are two paid levels, Argentum and Aurum which have extensive useful features.

I have selected the Argentum level of Publer for social media scheduling for my own accounts and will assess if I need to upgrade. 

The recording of the webinar posted on the Publer YouTube channel below shows you around the main navigation, primary features and how to schedule a post and some of the recent updates to Publer. 

In addition to posting in real-time manually there is scheduling and recycling which can be automatic or on a time-table which you set up to meet your different social media accounts. This is similar to the way Buffer works.

You are also able to bulk upload for time-saving content creation. You can also save your posts as drafts.

I like the hashtag suggestion feature which saves time and the ability to add a comment to your post at a later time. This can help with algorithms which don't favour link posts – post the content and then schedule the link!

Unique Features of Publer

For all avid Instagram users, Link in Bio, allows you to create a landing page which not only includes a link to your website and up to 15 URLs, but also pulls in your Instagram posts and links them to a URL. See the image for Publer's Link in Bio as an example.

The next unique feature is Watermark which enables you to add up to 10 different logos, icons or symbols to your posts (Note: these need to be png files).

One other unique feature is being able to share to Google My Business which is a really useful feature for local businesses, such as hairdressers, plumbers, landscapers, restaurants and shops.

Another time-saving feature is the appending of a signature to your posts (apart from Twitter). 

All in all, I'm really excited about using Publer and I have a renewed enthusiasm for creating and managing social media for my own and my clients' accounts. I will review any new features as they are rolled out and update this blog post. 

For any social media manager or business owner using social media to build their brand, Publer comes highly recommended and well worth investing in.
